your gift will go twice as far
Join our 2021 Year-End Match Campaign!
Here at BSCO we are continuously in awe of our passionate, welcoming, and active community. The dedication you all show to protect and enhance our outdoor spaces is inspiring. The tremendous growth in use of our protected outdoor spaces of BSCO parks, trails and programming is significant as we slowly work through the pandemic.
With the start of BSCO’s Year-End Fundraising Campaign, we’re excited to announce a bonus — 100% of the Board of Directors have committed to match donations up to $50,000! That means your gift will go twice as far to create a brighter and healthier Big Sky future. Please give as generously as you can to meet our goal.
Your special gift will help ensure you and your family have continued access to quality outdoor experiences. In the coming year we will:
1. Enhance Parks & Trails.
People are using the parks and trails in record numbers – between January through October we’ve already counted more than 600,000 users, which is a 24% increase from last year. We will add connectivity through town for new trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking; build another soccer playing field in the Big Sky Community Park; extend the infields on one of our softball/baseball fields to meet Babe Ruth regulations; and enlarge the skatepark and pump track by adding more beginner to intermediate terrain.
2. Open BASE.
We are beyond excited to open Big Sky’s first ever community and recreation center! This 27,000 sq ft, LEED certified facility will be open year-round to locals, seasonal workers and visitors alike, providing an indoor gymnasium, climbing wall, fitness equipment and classes, space for behavioral health counseling, public meeting rooms, and community hangout spaces. We will also offer fun new recreational programs for youth and adults. Through financial aid to those in need, BASE will be accessible for all, regardless of ability to pay. This new community asset will add greatly to BSCO’s mission of building community through recreation.
3. Expand Winter Grooming.
Last Winter we groomed 350 miles of trails over an 18-week season. The BSCO trails are some of the only public outdoor open spaces for the community of Big Sky to use free of charge for winter skiing, hiking, biking, and dogs alike. We are adding 1.5 new miles of groomed trail this winter!
Your support is greatly needed this year. While the outlook on the pandemic is improving, we’re not out of the woods yet. People still need a safe way to stay active, social and connected to each other and the outdoors. The need for BSCO services has increased as families, both local and visiting, are using the parks and trails in record numbers to achieve that.
Let’s be the community we have been, and want to be, for a very long time.
